ASD Program
The Marshfield public schools support children on the autism spectrum with various levels of severity and presentation in our five elementary schools, middle school and high school. The placement of students vary from a full inclusion model to a substantially classroom. Substantially separate ASD programs have been developed at the elementary level for students who require more intensive services. Similar programming is currently being developed at the middle school level to begin the 2008-2009 school year.

The students in the ASD programs are integrated into the general education curriculum and/or educated in a self-contained classroom as indicated on the IEP. Students work in small groups and individually on curriculum that may be modified and includes the IEP goals and objectives. Program components include social skills training, sensory integration strategies, communication and language strategies, and positive behavioral programming in a highly structured environment. Based on individual need speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy are provided.
