 District  Strategic Planning Goals    

2007 - 2011

    Student Achievement:  Maximize student achievement through the development, assessment, and improvement of programs, resources, and personnel.

    Curriculum:

  • Further develop, implement, and revise a comprehensive curriculum, aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks PK-12.

  • Assure cross-district consistency in curriculum.

  • Assure that curriculum, current text books, and materials are connected from grade to grade.

  • Expand extracurricular and enrichment activities to promote participation and encourage development of individual talents.

    Instruction:

  • Implement effective instructional practices through district professional development.

  • Explore school day model that best meets all students' needs.

  • Maintain class size that addresses the individual needs of each student.

  • Sustain a system-wide technology plan that supports and enhances curriculum, instruction, learning and assessment, and home-school communication.

    Assessment:

  • Utilize assessment strategies to monitor and evaluate curriculum and instruction to improve student performance.

  • Assure cross-district consistency in assessment practices.

  • Effectively implement the use of MCAS scores to align the district curriculum offerings.

 

School Climate:   Ensure a safe, positive, innovative developmentally appropriate setting where teaching and learning will be optimized.

    Setting:

  • Promote mutual respect among all members of the school community and adherence to Marshfield Public School Core Beliefs.

  • Improve transitions from elementary to middle and middle to high school for students and parents.

  • Recruit, support, and retain professional staff that contribute to a positive school culture and student achievement.

 

Facilities:  Provide healthy, secure, state of the art school buildings and grounds.

    Buildings & Grounds:

  • Ensure a clean and healthy physical environment.

  • Develop a "green school" facilities plan.

  • Annually review and update equipment and procedures addressing safety and security issues in all school facilities.

  • Develop a proactive plan for maintaining and improving all school facilities, grounds, maintenance, furniture, technology, and equipment.

 

Finances:   Establish sound fiscal planning and funding.

    Short Term / Long Term Planning:

  • Create an operational plan reflecting prioritized educational needs.

  • Explore options for securing alternative revenue sources.

  • Explore options for creating efficiencies and savings district-wide.

 

Public Relations:  Welcome and promote a partnership amongst home, school and community.

    Communication:

  • Continue the expansion of programs to improve communications between staff, students, parents, and community.

  • Promote and expand upon the existing cooperative involvement between students and community members.
