Superintendent's Message 2008 - 2009 Dr. Middleton K. McGoodwin The Marshfield Public Schools has earned a solid reputation for excellence as our entire staff remains committed to providing an exceptional learning environment for every Marshfield student. Our district's annual MCAS test results, the 2007 EQA Report, PSAT and SAT scores, the number of students attending colleges, middle school students enrolled in high school level courses, as well as students participating in performing arts, athletics and extracurricular programs helps to explain why the Marshfield Public Schools stands apart from many other Massachusetts school districts. These accomplishments are the result of the hard work of our PK-12 students, dedicated and passionate efforts by Marshfield's exceptional teaching faculty and support staff, as well as the tremendous support from both parents/guardians and the community. The Marshfield Public Schools 'Mission Statement' clearly represents what our district seeks to accomplish: Empower all students to reach their intellectual and personal potential as responsible citizens Beyond academics, the arts, athletics, and community service, the hallmark of our school district is the quality of personal relationships between staff and students. Relationships in the Marshfield Public Schools is illustrated by environments where students are treated with respect, lessons are carefully explained, and each student feels teachers and staff care personally about them. There is no greater responsibility in our country than to provide for the education of our children. Marshfield residents deserve to feel great pride in the manner by which their community has met this challenge. Education is a partnership. Excellence can only be attained and sustained by a collaborative effort between all stakeholders.
Middleton K. McGoodwin, Ed. D., Superintendent of Schools
