2276/p753764158_1128.gifKindergarten Registration 2009:   (for only those families living in the EWS District) Will be held at Eames Way School on Wednesday, March 4, 2009; in morning.  Children entering Kindergarten must be five (5) years old by August 31, 2009, per school committee policy.  (There are no exceptions to the school committee policy.)

Registration Day is for parents only, students do not attend on this day.  Parents/Guardians residing in the EWS district should bring the following documentations to Registration:

  1. A certified copy of a birth certificate.
  2. A dental examination document.
  3. A physical examination showing all immunizations.
  • Three doses of Hepatitis B Vaccine
  • Four doses of Polio Vaccine
  • Five doses of D.P.T./DTap
  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Vaccine
  • A Measles Booster
  • Lead Screening Certificate
  • Varivax Vaccine (chicken pox) or documentation from physician that child has had illness prior to entering Kindergarten.

 

NOTE:      EWS parents will also need to bring $10.00 (cash or check) to purchase their son/daughter's Elementary School Journal which will capture a snapshot of their academic growth from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.  You will receive this momento of your child's years at EWS upon his/her graduation from Eames Way School at our Annual Fifth Grade "Moving-On Ceremony"!

 

Parent Orientation  will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009, in the Dining Room.  Students need not attend.  Kindergarten Staff will be introduced to you and a brief Kindergarten presentation, including information about the Screening will be presented. EWS Kindergarten Orientation Handbooks and MA Curriculum Frameworks will be available.  MA State C.O.R.I. check forms will be available (bring your license too) which upon clear verification from the state will allow you to volunteer in the school or attend a field trip.

 

Kindergarten Screening will be held in late spring 2009 (Monday-May 4th OR Wednesday-May 6th OR Friday-May 8th by appointment!.  You will be notified of the day and time of your child's appointment screening.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL NEW KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS:

Entrance Age : In accordance with School Committee Policy, all children residing in the Town may be admitted to kindergarten only if they are five (5) years of age on or before August 31 of that school year. There is no process in place to challenge this policy.

Kindergarten Registration : Held on the first Wednesday in March, at EWS. Specific documentation is required. Only the parent attends.

EWS Kindergarten Parent Orientation : An orientation for parents provides information about the kindergarten curriculum and screening process. Special guests from the school and district are invited to welcome parents and explain their role in relation to the kindergarten.

Kindergarten Screening:  Held each spring, by appointment. The parent and student need to attend;     the student to be screened and the parent to complete a child’s history questionnaire with our counselor.

EWS Kindergarten Student Orientation : You and your child will attend, by appointment, on one of the two days before school begins for Kindergarten. Students get to see the classroom, meet fellow students, their teacher(s) and take a brief ride around the school on a bus.
