Dance Team

The MHS Dance Team is a hip-hop based dance team that performs at school rallies and althletic events. The Dance Team will also compete in at least one dance competition and perform in other local venues. The team was founded in 2005 and was run by the students. The team was made an official club in 2006. In 2007 the Dance Team performed at the Garden in a Celtics Game. The goal of the Dance Team is to educate students on proper hip-hop technique, professionalism and performance.

Dancers are selected based on a two-part audition process. The first audition is an open call where anyone can participate. Dancers are asked to perform their own short routine either solo or with one other dancer and are judged on technique and performance. Based on the scores from the first audition, dancers are invited back to participate in the choreography round. Dancers are taught a short routine and must perform that routine for a panel of judges. Dancers are adjudicated and the final list is posted.

The Dance Team follows the MHS eligibility rules. The Dance Team has practices on Wednesday afternoons and meets during the winter sports season.
