Marshfield Integrated Preschool Program

The Marshfield Integrated Preschool is a language-based, developmental
preschool program where children with and without special educational
needs learn together in a play-oriented setting. Typically, in an integrated
program, the community peers (non-special needs students) are role
models for the children with identified special needs. Integrating children
of all abilities promotes the progress of the child with identified special
needs in many areas of development including language, social-emotional,
and self-help skills. The children without special needs learn quickly in a
developmentally appropriate environment and are also more likely to
develop positive attitudes about children with special needs.
Through a developmental, multisensory teaching approach, the Marshfield
Integrated Preschool meets each child at his/her own level of development
and encourages each child to learn and grow at his/her own rate. This
developmentally appropriate and interactive learning experience enables
each child to achieve success, thus fostering self-esteem. Activities are both
child-initiated and teacher-directed, offering each child a wide range of
hands-on learning opportunities.
