Janet Applefield recently spoke to 9th grade World History students to tell her story of survival and to encourage students to combat hate and prejudice. As a Jewish child from Poland, Janet survived the Nazi invasion by being hidden with many different caregivers throughout the war. She eventually moved to the U.S., lives in Massachusetts and at 90 years old is still visiting communities to tell her story. We are thankful to the organization “Facing History and Ourselves” for connecting us with Janet. And of course, huge thanks to Janet for taking time to share her impactful story with us.
