The Marshy Machines 10156 robotics team recently competed at the NE District North Shore Event at Reading High School, taking on some tough competition and gaining valuable experience along the way. 🤖
Over the course of the weekend, the team played 12 qualifying matches (out of 75 total) and finished 30th out of 38 teams, improving their performance match by match. This small but mighty team, made up mostly of 9th graders, showed incredible determination, teamwork, and resilience.
Despite being behind in planning and building after the blizzard that hit Marshfield (which inspired the robot’s name, Stormy 🌨️), the students embraced the challenge and kept pushing forward. Throughout the event, they continuously improved their robot’s design, programming, and strategy. By the end of the competition, the team had even designed and implemented an autonomous mode, something they didn’t have at the start of the event, demonstrating the powerful cycle of design → test → analyze → adjust → try again.
The team also demonstrated the values that define FIRST Robotics Competition: gracious professionalism and coopertition. When challenges popped up, like bumpers taking a beating from defensive play or a damaged radio, the students stayed calm, worked together to problem-solve, and sought advice from other teams. They also paid it forward, sharing their own knowledge and resources with four other teams during the weekend.

Marshfield High School had 59 student competitors participate across principles events, individual events, team events, written projects, School-Based Enterprises, and Quiz Bowl.
Our students represented MHS incredibly well, and we are proud to share that we finished the conference with 12 finalists, 10 International Career Development Conference qualifiers, and a top exam score recipient.

We also want to recognize Ethan Licis, who represented Marshfield by running for the Massachusetts DECA State Officer Team. While he was not elected, we are incredibly proud of his leadership, courage, and commitment to representing our chapter at the state level.
Marshfield DECA also received recognition for completing the National DECA Campaigns in the following areas:
• Promotional Campaign - Marshfield DECA officers planned a series of activities raising awareness for the organization both inside and outside of Marshfield High School including appearing on a local radio show, volunteering at local chamber of commerce events, and holding meetings with local businesses to secure financial sponsorships for the program.
• Community Service Campaign - Marshfield DECA members collected donations for the Marshfield Food Pantry prior to Thanksgiving with over 75% of the chapter participating. Overall, we raised over $300 for the Food Pantry with over five large boxes of food.
We also received recognition for earning the Gold Level Re-Certification of the Ram’s Den School Store and the QUIP Center. Students in the small business management class at MHS wrote two thorough business plans discussing promotional and operational highlights of the two programs. This could not have been done without the guidance and leadership from Tim Lynch, who has run both of these programs this year!
We are incredibly proud of all of our competitors and the hard work they put in to prepare for this conference. If you see them this week, be sure to congratulate them!

Once again, Marshfield High School Student Council was proud to represent our school and community at the Massachusetts Association of Student Council State Spring Conference! 💚🤍🖤 The conference was held at the Emerald Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis, MA, March 4th-6th. #WeRMarshfield
Our 3rd annual Art Throwdown is in the books, with 70 students from FBMS and MHS having come together to creatively compete! 🧑🎨🎨🖌️ The theme this year was "Elements of Nature." This whole event happens due to a grant from the Levitate Foundation whose mission is to cultivate a better future by creating and conserving access to music, art and the outdoors. 🤗✨ #WeRMarshfield
🌟 In February, our Belonging Builder was awarded to Mr. Silveri! 🌟Mr. Mike Silveri goes above and beyond to make staff, students, and families feel welcome and valued at Daniel Webster Elementary School. He knows almost all students by name and develops personal connections sharing stories with them at breakfast and lunch. He also is a mentor for a fifth grade student leadership team and his team was the top choice among students!
